Hot pepper extract
Since I made the hottest I can make by just using peppers alone I decided to extract the capsaicin from the peppers. This would sufficiently be my hottest ever and I think I will stop at this.
I got 5/8lb of dark orange habaneros, a 2 cup mason jar, and a bottle of 80 proof absolut.
I cleaned the mason jar and lid. Then I chopped all the peppers into little strips and cubes. I jammed all of the peppers into the mason jar. They fit, but barely. I smashed the crap out of them once in the jar with a wooden spoon. After that I just poured the vodka over it to cover the peppers.
The idea is I will leave it sit for about a week to let the oil from the peppers seperate into the vodka. Pour the vodka into another jar and let it evaporate. Then I'll be left with the hot oil. The same batch of peppers will be soaked about 5 times to ensure I got every little bit of oil as possible.
I am hoping from this group of peppers to maybe get about .25-.5oz of it. Everything I am reading online is that a pound of dried peppers makes up to 1oz of the oil. a pound dried is like 2 pounds fresh. But when you dry the pepper I am inclined to believe that some of the heat/oil/cap is lost. I could be completely wrong but I have handled dry habaneros and fresh. The fresh are way hotter on my holy crap it is burning my mouth scale.
I will post back results as I figure them out. If this works I may make a bunch of the stuff. If it doesn't work I will give the dried peppers a shot before abandoning hope.

Strained the first batch...it is bright orange and smells like habaneros. Will strain second batch in a couple of days.
Need to buy some cheese cloth for the evap process
