    Default Painting the Interior

Just a quick question for those who have..

What grit of sandpaper did you use to remove the texture from some of the interior pieces?

Did you primer the pieces before applying the actual colored paint?

What paint did you find worked the best? (So far I've only come across Krylon)

    Thanks in advance!

I used the same grits that come in headlight re-conditioning kits. Any paint will work with adhesion promoter, just find the paint that suits your taste the best, take your time and do several light layers, rather than few heavy layers. I'v actually been really thinking about trying the blitz black on an interior, but haven't found one I want to molest yet...

I agree with you, my punctuation-challenged brother. Yet with a painted interior, there's a chance he's going to get flamed either way.
    So stock, it's SCARY. rawr.

Dude take it from me! Its not worth it! Almost every person that has, regretted it a few years later. I hate to spoil your dreams.

You'll realize how gay it looks a couple years later.
And it'll KILL the value of the car!

    My god, it's bright! lol.

I'm thinking about painting... but unlike most people, I only want to go with a single tone. That's right, I'm too much of a broke ass to afford a dark charcoal interior swap, so why not paint it?

I'm looking at a flat black so it's not like "omg shiny", but wondering if ya'll would still say not to do it, even though it's a single color. I'm good at prep work and my girl is in college for paint and design, so she's VERY handy with a can of spray paint. She's painted stuff like our bumper and you can't tell it's spray painted... no lines, buildup spots, nothing.

And then of course a black fabric dye for the roof, carpets, seats, etc... maybe even just re-upholster the seats to leather with Red "ZX2" stitching.

It'll really look that bad....even with it only being a solid black? And it's not just saving... its finding... all the wrecked Zx'2 around here are grey or tan..

i sprayed my center console and the plastic door trim pieces where the door handles are located red. i honestly think that it doesnt look that bad if its done right, although its harder to maintain a more 'clean' appearance if you were to not regularly keep it whipped down with armor all or something like that. also i should mention that i did my center console about a year ago and there are a few paint chips on it just from normal use, which in my opinion makes it look kind of cheap. so in other words try not to go too overboard if you do spray your interior, and just think about what it may look like a year + from now to give you a better idea as to what pieces you choose to do. also make sure that the interior pieces are cleaned up and let them air dry to prevent any fabric from getting on them when going to paint, do thin layers, and take your time, and you should be set.
