Default New Ford Shift fork vs old

Guys, got the new shift fork from Ford, looked a lot beefier. Asked the guy behind the desk and he said it had a 2003 revision date on it. Well I got it home and the difference is night and day. They added almost an 1/8 inch of material for strength and didn't smooth out the engagement area by removing material. I raced all 4 races on sunday without breaking the fork! So I'd say ford realized a design flaw and made an improvement. This may be the fix needed! I have attached a picture. You can see I laid the broken piece on top of the new fork and you can clearly see the extra material that's added.

dang, that is beefier! i ordered a new fork last March, and it wasn't beefy like that..it's the same as all the ones i've had. wonder if they finally phased out the old style and just have the new ones now! was it still ~50 bucks like the old sytle was?

Yes, I should have clarified this is the 3/4 shift fork. Yeah I think my dealer charged me like 61 bucks although when I went online it was 50 but they overnighted it to me for free. Thanks for posting that pic zx2wou2, you can see in that one where they ground down that one area, they didn't do that to mine. I wish I could have taken more pictures but I was running out of time to get that tranny back in before racing on sunday. Didn't even get my welded diff back in! I wonder why the one zx2wou2 ordered was the same as the original. I think I still have the box. I can take pictures of the sticker and post them here, I bet if you have yours we can compare the rev code. You're probably right about getting rid of old stock

This could explain the inordinate amount of shift fork problems we have had.
I assume my car has the new style, being built in June of 2003. Yeah!

The little lines/grooves are suppose to hold oil , also a good place for stress fractures to happen just like in the picture.

i just thought it was poor machining..considering it's cheap cast iron anyway. i've broken 2 of those forks, and have another one in my garage from someone that has that tab broken off as well. good to see they fixed the design flaw, though.
