each sub is different. Should be in the sub's specs

If you dont build the box to the specs of the sub it is not going to sound the best that it can. do some research, each sub is different and requires different box sizes.

The VB-212 came as a package deal from the store. If it came in a box that was 1 cuft, it would be wise to put them back in a box that is the same.

Without technical specs (Fs, Qts, Vas) it is impossible to design a proper box (unless you want someone to measure the specs for you.) Typical Visonik 12" woofers require a 1.0-1.5 CuFt sealed box or a 2.25-3.0 CuFt ported box. However a ported box requires specific port tuning or it will sound terrible.

Contrary to popular belief, for a given speaker a ported box gives output about a half octave deeper than a sealed box, but with a larger box volume and port tuning that will be lower than the -3 dB freq. of the sealed box. The relationships are more complex than can be discussed in a single thread.

Stick the speaker in a 1.5 CuFt box and if it sounds decent, then be done with it. It's probably not worth the effort.
