cotm 2010 the return

I've been pretty busy both at work and at home....

I'm sure some of you have noticed that I haven't been around..... or maybe you haven't.... oh well either way...

Well some of us on the COTM crew would like to bring back the section.

I'm bantering around the idea of making it a selection instead of the vote.

We'd have people nominate themselves throughout the year (only needed once) and we'd make the selection based on the entries.

It looks like the panel will be trimmed down significantly also.

There were some problems with the vote process that caused a ton of headaches that personally I'd rather not have to deal with again.

I would be overseeing the process and as most of you should know I have no axes to grind so everyone can trust that I would hold myself and the panel to the highest integrity. (at least I hope most of you know me well enough to know that)

Anyway...

Please chime in with your thoughts.

Panel vote works for me. This way we can keep popularity out of it, and keep it about the car. The way it should be.

Sounds good to me. I like the panel, and I agree with Combat. If I could suggest, I'd say before and after pics to show what it was, and what it is now.

So just once a year? No more once a month? That would be kind of cool to have once a month and those twelve go on to compete for a COTY...

I'd like it to be a section. One where each thread is created only by you (or mods) We could have every single COTM as a new thread with their brief description and pics. Then people would be able to comment on the cars. Also would be nice to be able to see all the threads and COTM cars. Like an Archive of sorts.

Sounds good to me. I like the panel, and I agree with Combat. If I could suggest, I'd say before and after pics to show what it was, and what it is now.

I may have not made that clear..... What I meant is it's still CAR OF THE MONTH, but you only need to enter once. Those who don't get the honor the first month are carried over and so on.

There is a COTM section.... obviously.... and we've previously archived the months winners. But opening it to comments could be a possibility and I could very well do a monthly one.

I think it's a good feature to have on a site like this. Before you re-start it again, you could visit some other forums that do this and get some ideas on how to run it. I do like the idea of having a before and after feature to this so people can see the work that's been put into a car. There are a lot of members here that have put a lot of time and effort into building their cars. I'm all for having COTM back, just as long as it stays around and doesn't die off after 3 or 4 months. That's not a dig at you Sir Williams, cause I fully understand that people have lives beyond TeamZX2, lol.

I think that a limit on pictures is another good thing. Can't remember if there was a limit before, but one of the things I've seen from other forums is that they are only allowed to post 1 interrior, and like 3-4 exterior. That keeps people from getting carried away and keeps it simple!

I would like to see the before and after feature on car of the month. Real car enthusiast say a car is not bought it is built and this would put focus around that.
