Well first off, you would either need a shop that can tune and flash. If there are not any shops in the area that can do this you next option would be to get a SCT device. You can go a couple different ways on this on.... you can either get a xcal (have heard of tuning problems), xcal2, xcal3, or the 6600 multi psotion flip switch chip, I am sure there is a single burn chip also. There are other tuning devices you can use like sniper or diablo but most ppl on here use SCT.

you can find sct xcals and 6600's on ebay yes. I think it was Tim who found a guy on ebay willing to sell the 6600 for like $80 give or take. Andrew at adrenalineauto.net sells xcal2/3 with tunes. and yes vit is supposable the man with tunes.

It depends on how deep ur pockets are. The xcal2/3 are nice cause you can make minor adjustments such as the gov, and rev limiters, idle, and some timming settings. It also doubles are a OBDII code reader. You can buy ones brand new from adrenalineauto.net ($350 give or take) and that comes with tunes. Or you can try and save some $ by using ebay. And maybe talk to vit about getting him to tune it. I think if you go with vit the xcal has to be unlocked (I just heard this from somone second hand so done quote me one this.) If you dont care about all of the bells and whistles the cheapest route would be to just get a 6600 chip and have vit flash it if he is willing to do so.

SCT 6600, search it on ebay, find the one where you can shoot the guy an offer, offer him like 90 bucks. then send it to Vit and have him tune it for another 75 bucks. it's not only the cheapest option you have for a tune, it's the best.

I'm from Milwaukee, WI, have an Xcal2 and am also looking for someone that knows how to properly tune my zetec. It would be nice to find someone in the area but I will drive if that's what it takes to get it done right the first time. zxtwou2, you mentioned sending a chip to Vit. Wouldn't he need the car also though so he could properly tune it on a dyno? What did you personally do for a tune?

If you feel like driving a few hours to Bryon, IL you can get a decent tune by Kurgan Motorsports. I've spent hundreds with him and many hours on the dyno, so he will know what to do with you within 1 hour.

That is really good to hear. I had heard of Kurgan but didn't know if they had any experience with zetecs. I'll have to make a trip out this weekend. Thanks for the help man

Haha, I didn't even catch that. Well I called Kurgan today to get some more info. According to their "new" website, a custom tune using SCT/Diablosport starts at $550 where as a tune for AEM, FAST, BigStuff 3, and PMS is $100 per hour. At first glance I didn't really understand the discrepancy. Why so much more for SCT? Then I thought maybe that included the price of the programmer. When I mentioned I would supply my own Xcal2 however, the guy I talked to still quoted me approx. $400-450.

Does this seem on par to you guys that have been through this? What's your take ChillinZX. Like you mentioned, I would imagine they could set me up within an hour or two but that would equate to a tuning fee of $225 to $450 an hour...
