The larger pulley spins the alt faster. The alt is for a van that never sees more than 5500 rpm, not a 4 cylinder that sees 7000 rpm.

Larger alt pully = slower alt rpm.

I got that backwards, oops. I should have thought of it like a supercharger. Anyway, this means the alt won't charge as it should at idle. So there, still should change the pulley. lol

Just thought I'd chime back in, have had the alternator on for a while now (1,800 miles) and works wonderfully. I put powders pulley on it and there was no need to modify the housing like I had to do on the original alternator... All in all, I'm quite happy... :^)
