I inquired about building a custom setup that can better handle our high spring rates (12/10kg or 650/550 pound)--got this back:
The "Max" ones are twin-tube, whereas the Asian brands (KSport/D2/BC etc.) are Monotube. Trying to weigh pros and cons... The High-line Selex's are monotube. I did also get an insanely low quote on some KSport "RR" series, including dyno matching--and my understanding is they are superior to the 'regular' KSport 'Kontrol" series in terms of quality. I have been fearful of going that route, but have had some conversations with Jim Pierce at Pierce Motorspots--and he runs those on his NASA track car (EGT) with good results...and feel somewhat better.

Compared to what? Its much cheaper than AST, Anze or Hotbits. Its more than the Tiwanese stuff...but...sometimes price and value are not the same. Sometimes you get what you pay for.
if they can provide shock dyno's at 3in/sec and it's as linear as the BC and Koni's...then i'd seriously consider the manual adjusting ones. any chance they build inverted sets?
2000 S/R FSP build: APC shift knob, LED tails, zx2 sticker on the rear bumper, Silverstar headlights, blue spark plug wires, optima red top battery, Magnaflow muffler, and some lowering springs.
Koni 2812's are 1000 each, just for the strut...that's not including the lower tube/mount, upper camber plate, pillow ball bushing, spring perches, or springs. heck, even simple Koni 8611's that these might perform with are 300 apiece. most people don't know what a good set of shocks cost. the well prepared 1989 Honda Civic Si's that dominate ST in SCCA Solo usually run 4,000 dollar Moton shocks![]()
*Some* SpecCivics indeed have $4000 Motons, however Pat and Jason (2nd and 3rd) had 'basic' racing Konis...
Tim--have you seen BC Dynos? Do they compare to Konis well? Can they build something with 12/10kg?
I got a quote on KSport "RR" (not 'Kontrol')--the RR are supposedly hand-made, not production-line--and are built to customer spec. I have heard lots of not-so-good things about earlier "Kontrol"--but the later stuff seems better. I have heard nothing bad--and I am looking--about the "RR" series--and there are actually some impressive results (Time Attack etc.) of cars that use them. They do offer dynos and the do offer rebuild/revalve in AZ facility...so it seems the support is decent (now). The early stuff is junk by all estimations--but it *seems* they have improved the whole line alot in the last two years or so.
My big issue is that we are underdamped with the rates we run; we have a great setup for 500-550/400--450--but the car needs more spring for our tastes. If we find something that works--we will sell the Konis/GCs--in case anyone is interested. Its all fresh stuff.
i'd be interested in your koni'si'm running 450/325 on Tokico's
shock dynos for BC's can be found here...and by a customer, not by the company, so you know they are accurate: http://www.iwsti.com/forums/gd-suspe...ve-review.html
The KSport RRs are on the car. Quality of hardware and finish was outstanding. The front clevis was a bit wider than the knuckle, so a couple of washers were needed, bu everything else fit perfectly. We still need to set cornerwights and rideheight and then align. Car also has new 15x7.5 TRMotorsport C1s with 205/50-15 StarSpecs...we also made some killer hubcentric 10mm spacers to take the wheels to ET32.
sweet! so does this mean you are parting with your konis and top plates? scholarship payouts are right around the corner ya know![]()
Cell phone photo...
...spacers look like these...the inner diameter is slip fit over the 54.1mm centerbore of the hub and the OD fits the wheel (you do not use the supplied plastic centering rings). They are 6" diameter and were 15mm slices machined to 10mm with a 5mm centering lip.

Most likely; one of the fronts is leaking...got bad at last CHISCCA event...oil mess. Our rebuilder is in Zion (between MKE and ORD)...I'd prefer to have them sold as-is, but we could work in the discount for a freshening-up at Kurt's shop.
I want to run an event with the KSports--just to be sure. Craig drove the car on the street and loves it--even without an alignment and setting height and cornerweights...so I am pretty sure we'll part with the GC/Konis...in September.
