Default Jesusfrk611 Midnight Blue '03 worklog

Now that I've been doing a few things to my car and will do stuff in the future I might as well make a worklog...

I very clearly remember saying I will not mod this car when I joined this forum and even at Corby's Texas meet. Hanging around this place too long gets to you and you just gotta do it.

I bought the car used July 14, 2008 with about 45,600 miles on it. A stock ATX '03 "deluxe" (options: cruise, leather wrapped wheel, CD player, and not much else). I had been looking around my area specifically for an '03 because I liked the front and stock 5 spoke wheels. Sadly I wanted one so bad that I didn't look around for the best deal and paid $5,600 for it... If I did it all again I wouldn't have bought it. I did badly want to get out of my '92 Ford Tempo that had a radiator leak though. It wasn't quite my first choice in color. I really wanted dark charcoal or burnt orange, but oh well.

My dad and I did maintenance to it after I bought it. Brakes, filters, and all that jazz. I took off the pin stripe at that time since it was already starting to come off. It looks better without it anyway.

I tried out the CD player and gave up on it in about a month and a half and bought Dougiestyle (Duckiestyle)'s Pioneer head unit. It's awesome, no you can't have it back Doug.

The car came with a couple nice sized dents on the passenger fender. Got a PDR guy to come out and repair it for $150.

    Before:

    After:

Bought some cheap aftermarket fog lights.

Finally did the Keman mod when fusewerks sold me the ZXtuner upper resonator. I also did the knock mod and 21mm RSB around this time.

Bought some 5000K DDM HIDs and replaced the fogs with OEM fitting fogs. I think somewhere around time time I added power door locks with remote entry. So much more convenient.

Traded out my '03 seats for earlier charcoal seats and bought my MTX swap.

Not long after I saw Brad had S/R seat covers for sale which is what I originally wanted. So I bought and installed those. Added strut tower bar.

Wondering around the junk yard I stumbled upon some Progress springs and grabbed them for $130 for all 4 with struts.

    Before:

    After:

    MTX swap finally.

Made and installed my center reflector LED brake light about the same time and did a full LED conversion.

Bought 17" Konig Kolors off CBZX2 at the Ohio meet. Haven't gotten around to taking pictures of my car with them on, but here's one from the meet. Left of the picture, you can see one wheel anyway.

My next upcoming project is bolt-on "industrial looking" projectors, black out headlights, and clear corner turns. I bought an extra set of headlights from Brad and cleared the lenses up nicely. If weather permits on Thursday, I'm going to the jy and grabbing headlights off an Infinity J30 and starting my projectors. My headlight HID kit shorted out on exposed wires and killed it, so I'm back to stock bulbs for now. All the more reason to get my projectors made and get a 9006 HID kit, filament bulbs is the lame, they are so dull coming from my HIDs. I'll keep this updated.

In the future I'd like the tint the inner turns slightly so they blend in a little better with the grille and future blacked out headlights/clear corners. I may eventually add an amp and 10" sub to my audio, but that will be down the road a ways if at all. Kinda debating it because I need my trunk space sometimes when I move back and forth to college and home. The cost will keep me from doing it for now.

It has been a great car so far. Won't be getting rid of it anytime soon.

What?!?! I go to that one all the time! I've probably seen you before. Do you take your Z to work? Cuz I've seen a blue ZX2 there before and I always wonder whose it is.

Yes, that's my dark blue '03 that I park in the dirt pit on the drive thru side of the building. If you come inside, I usually work fries.

I was going to to junk yard tomorrow for my projectors hopefully and to see if I can find any leather or other kind of shift boot off a different car that might work, as well as a shift knob.

Yeah, you and corby were both saying I would. And I did. I enjoy doing stuff to my car though so I don't care what I said before.

Rims look good on your Z. I think the dark color of the car and the color of the rims w/ the polished lip makes them pop. Another thing I wanted to comment on was your led reflector light. That turned out very good too.
