Default Who's Planning on Hitting The Track This Spring/Summer?

I don't have a track local to me within an 8 hour drive but there are several events coming up where airport strips are converted into drag strips for weekend bracket racing. I plan to attend atleast 2 events possibly three.

First event in May/June will be Full-Bolt On w/ 22x8.5" Drag Radials
Second Event August will be Full-Bolt-On, DR's, 50 Shot.

Looking for a 15.9 Pass on motor and low-mid 14's on spray.

How about the rest of you, when are you hitting the track and what is your goals?

Don't know when the first midnight mayhem is, but I have plans and goals. If I'm turbo'd by then, 7psi and a 14.6. I don't expect any better because I probably will be learning the whole first event. If I stick with the JohnP head and just bolt-ons, I'm expecting a 15.5

I'll be heading to luskville (track a few hours away) as soon as I find a decent set of stickies for the front and the weather warms up. With a moderate reaction time I am expecting high 13's on decent tires. High 12's or low 13's with a perfect run on slicks

The best engine in the world is the vagina, it takes any size piston, its self lubricating, starts with 1 finger, and every 4 weeks does its own oil change. It's just a pity the management system is so fucking temperamental.

Too bad Luksville is 9 hours away from me! I'm way up in Northern Ontario! I really envy the guys that can attend Drags on a weekly basis!

I need to get to the track soon, but got some issues to fix first. I'm hoping for 15.4's. The car is 100 lb's lighter with wheels and tires that are much lighter. Stock motor, ATX, no tune and some basic bolt ons Hope I can get the issues fixed before it gets hot out...I want to push the ATX record down a bit further before I go MTX or Turbo

You better get a video of that run or I'm going to call B.S!! Honestly I don't know how you guys put down a 15.7 run! You must have been running in 32 degree weather on a downhill track!! My ATX will be full-bolt on, 22" Drag Radials(4.01 Effective Gear Ratio) and 15.9 is optimistic.

Yup. Got pretty much everything spec'd out. The goal is somewhere around 600whp on pump gas. Turbo maxes around 750, so around 700ish on race fuel. Build starts after next week.

After I'm done I'll pick some races with ZX2's. I'll be nice... give 'em 20 lengths and a VTEC.

It was 38 degrees with the wind coming from the side, on a leval track (Atco Raceway in NJ) at a couple hundred feet above sea leval. I got a bunch of 15.7 time slips, but I only got one 15.6 time slip If I go, I'll try and video it for you guys....
What do you need drag radials for? I couldn't spin my stock sized tires aired up to 45psi. They put so much traction compound down that it is still stuck to my wheel wells after one year. Drag radials will slow you down, unless you race at an uprepared track.
Anyhow, I'm axious to see how fast you can go!

    1. Yes you are correct the track is a concrete surface that is often times unprepared or poorly prepared. I have to air down my street tires to 25 psi to get traction.
    2. Stock final drive is 3.74 which is way too tall of a final drive to get this car hauling ass. Stock size tires are 23.7" therefore using a 22" drag radial will put me at 22.1" tall resulting in an effective 4.01 Ratio.
    3. Going from a 16" wheel combination to a 14" combination will bring down the rotating mass.
    4. Drag Radials are lighter then street radials.

How will I slow myself down?

I made a 16.8 Pass on a poorly prepared concrete surface. 770 feet above sea, 82 Degrees Out. Full Interior. H/E/UDP/Poor Detonating SCT Tune does that count? For reference a new Mazda 3 MTX ran consistent 16.9's to my consistent 16.8.

Sounds like you are on the right track, I was under the impression that the drag radials would be larger and heavier. We're on the same path, I got 22.5" tall tires that weigh 13lbs and my new wheels weigh 10.6 lb's My first time at ATCO I ran a 16.9 in 88 degree temps, high humidity, almost completely stock at that time, even let the PCM do the shifting.
I think that with all your mods, you ought to go pretty quick

I have a suspicion I won't go as fast as you. I did purchase more parts this winter. Soon as the weather warms up I'll install everthing. The only thing I did not change is the MAF and Throttle Body. I've upgraded everything else that can be considered a bolt-on.
