Cool 2001 zx2 green (salvage title)

I bought my zx2 2/18/11 and so far I am very happy with it. My first performance mod will be a cold air intake, I am definitely a noob so this will be a good start for me. I am considering getting a g force chip mainly for the slight chance i might actually get better mileage with it. I drive 18 miles to work and another 18 miles home every day so I need to get the best gas mileage possible. Shortly after i bought it I did have to replace the thermostat, the housing for it and both of the temp sensors on the housing due to a small coolant leak and my temp gauge wasn't reading a temp at all. Now it is working and not leaking. I will get pics up soon, damn Nebraska weather hasn't let me wash and wax it yet so I am too embarrassed to take pics. The interior is going to be a big project this spring, many of the panels have big scratches in them, lots of scuffs. The carpet is going to need replaced, I have considered trying to steam clean it first but it is pretty torn up anyways. I am thinking as far as the panels go I will paint them to give my interior more of a custom look. But that is still up for debate. It was salvaged titled because i beleive it was rear ended and pushed into another car just hard enough to push the bumper into the next car to puncture the bumper. Both of the bumpers were replaced and the rear quarter panel was replaces on the passenger side. My zx2 also came with the factory 6 disc changer and I can't decide on if I want to keep it or not. If i do uninstall the radio and the changer is there a good chance i could sell it for any kind of a decent price? This car runs great and I cant wait to start to dig into it and make it my own, if you have any suggestions for me and my new zx2 please let me know

welcome! yup, he meant that. instead of buying an intake, just do a "keman mod." it should serve you well till you start getting a hang of modifying your ride.

sweet, sounds like a plan to me, i was actually reading up on that last night, I am thinking about doing a chip down the road to but i need to do more research on that as well. Like i said this is gonna be a daily driver but if i can find a chip that will really help my mileage and give me some extra hp why not right? lol

oh and i forgot to mention the hood wont pop up, the only way to open is if i have a friend pull up on the hood and i pull opn the lever in the car at the same time, that would be a major problem if i broke down by myself, any ideas?

My ZX2 was doing that for a while. Lubricating the latch might help yours (didn't on mine). What I ended up doing was pulling up a corner of the hood near one headlight, enough so I could shove my wallet in there. Then popping the hood. Worked every time.

replace the cable and latch. Someone on here will have one for fairly cheap I'm sure. Yours is probably nearing it's time...

I haven't personally ever done mine, but i don't see how it could be that hard. It's disconnecting a wire, unbolting a latch and putting stuff back in reverse order.
