I redlighted so had to settle for semi-finalist. I go back second weekend of August to the 1/4 mile now. That event though sees over 100 cars in my class so it will be more challenging.

not bad. the launch looks great, but after that it feels like the car isn't moving anymore (of course, being an escort has something to do with that), but a few seconds later it takes off again.

p.s. your car is a tad raspy. nothing wrong with that, i get rasp when cold as well.

Your 100% correct. The car with a 3500 converter is leaving the line strong, then falling on its face then taking back off again. Its fustrating.... It's like when the engine finally gets the full load on it it just dies down and struggles then starts pulling again. I don't think the car is making enough power at 3500rpm. In these video the intake cam gear was put back to 0 degrees. I should have left it at +4 because it makes a big difference in the bottom end of the car.

I sent John P some cash for a new set of stock cams with 600 miles on them along with new shims. So I'm going to put in the new cams, adjust the valve lash to spec and then re-time the motor to spec. Once that is done I will put some healthy timing advance on the intake side to gain as much bottom end power as I can.

I Have a 2.5" Trubendz Resonated/Catted/Magnaflow set-up on the car I'm surprised it is so raspy. I also have a Kamikazee Header. This is another reason I am missing some bottom end, 2.5" is a little big for my car, The kami primaries are also a little too big and bring the peak torque up higher.

I thought about installing OEM exhaust Piping With an S/R Borla and trying it out.

Race/Wheel & Tire Set-Up were put up for sale locally. I don't need them with the power I make.

I did make 2 videos to show the flash stall and brake stall. There is a delay of some sorts on the brake stall that I am not sure of. I'm going to send Andre @ Edge Racing an e-mail to see what he thinks. Here's the links.

2.25 would probly show better gains for you unless you plan on adding a focus head p&p'ed with cams. SVT header a thought mybe? hell even a OBX might give you better tqw down low.

You absolutely need a small turbo on that car. You'd fly.

Yeah i agree, a nice garret 2560R I bet I could build some good Boost at 3500 off the line. I don't have plans this year for a turbo set-up but may'be next year.

I spent a considerable amount of money this year already.

The dyno comparison I seen the OBX didn't gain anything below 3500 on the Kami header. The ZXTuner did show some gains over the Kami below 3500rpm though. The 2.5" exhaust is too big, but considering I am now thinking of going Turbo Charged the 2.5" exhaust will be perfect for my set-up and goals.

I thought about High Torque Cams, and a JohnP Head but honestly for the little gain I will see it's not worth it. I mean 25WHP won't make this thing a 13 second car lol. The gear ratio is still too long to maintain a long powerband. I decided that the only way I will actually be quick is with a small but decent size turbo. I'm happy with the rest of the car just not the power output.
I'm reading all the FAQ's now and planning the upgrade, but it won't be for two years. I need to make my house purchase with a garage so I can work on it over the winter. Id' be happy with 200whp, it would make it much more fun. I think that's the whole point of this now, just making the car enjoyable.

Yeah I'm going to try and run my street tires instead, I'm going to bring my intake cam timing up to 5 degrees advance, I was running 0 in those videos, I'm also going to flash the covnerter rather then brake stall. I'm also installing new cams, setting all the valve lash and timing. Also having the car re-tuned If I have enough time to get the X-Cal back from Vit. But aside from that, that's all she wrote for power. Hope it's not 90 degrees again. The problem is there is no power in the bottom end and that is 100% due to my choice of header and exhaust.

I'm sure you can get away with a lot less tire/wheel than you thought you'd need. I'm running 5" wide LRR tires at 50psi and still managed a 2.38 60'. It still bog's right after I launch though....it'd be nice to have some tuning software!
I think your choice of header and exhaust has less influence over your torque that you think, theres more to it than that. I'm not saying I got it all figured out, just don't give too much credit where it isn't due. Head and Cams is what I'd look to.
I'm begining to wonder if I'll ever make it back to the track....I may be a dedicated bench racer now :-)
I agree on the rear spring spacers, but make sure you get a feel for how it drives with them before you hit the track.

I decided to stay put with the exhaust & header idea. I'm going to run my street tires next time i'm at the track and try that out, then run my street slicks. The issue is the track I race at is an airport converted to a race track for a weekend. Surface isn't the best. Cams should arrive tomorrow, I'll go ahead and swap it all out next weekend.

As stated before I'm done spending money for a while, this car will get converted to Turbocharged in the next two years.

Cams are still at the Post Office, I need to get there. Talked To Vit and I'm sending my XCal in for his newest tune, I'm looking to get rid of the Dreaded Spark Knock at 2500RPM. In two weekends I am also swapping in the new Cams from JohnP.

Next update will be in 4 weeks when I head back to the track. I have to say I'm pretty much done with this build and disappointed. I guess it will make a decent street class car, I'm on the lookout for a faster rwd, v8 car.
