Thats pretty disappointing. Where did you hear this from?
As Corby so kindly pointed out, I've "yelled wolf" on engine swaps so many times in the past that it stopped being funny and just started being pathetic. But this swap will happen, I'm at a point with the car that there's no going back, most of the Zetec stuff is gone, including the ECU harness.
lol
We are all dreamers though.
Edit, during a swap with a completely different car's motor you are better off building your own harness, running megasquirt, tuning it yourself, and making your own gauge/dash cluster. OTHERWISE you will have to have a conglomeration of the zx2 ecm and whatever it is you are putting in.
Then you get into the whole legallity part of some swaps pending your state.
Dig for info, then pick, then implement, or just keep dreaming.

145whp until 200,000 miles. :-)
the 3.0 duratec/2.5 duratec option would be interesting. They do have some aftermarket. Having done a 3.0 swap into my svtc and having a 2.5 in my cougar. Its a fun engine, but I tend to find them as a high maintenance engine. What I mean by that is when they work , they work well. When they start to go down hill. Its hard to trace problems with them. Getting them to fit would be a interesting work around as well.
They have some aftermarket parts. A discontinued s/c, a current company has a turbo kit. Then most of the stuff can be pulled off a svt. They also have headers, and udps.
FYI. I came close to beating a 3.0 tuned with headers and other bolt ons from a roll in my turbo z. This not being tuned and only running 7psi. By close I mean by .5 car length. I think if we were to go head to head after a tune (ended up putting down 215hp @ 12psi) I think I would have beaten him.
Stick with the zetec.

I had the idea of simply swapping over ALL the engine/ECU wiring from the donor car, and just use aftermarket gauges. Depending on the engine, I might build my own harness and use megasquit.
The Duratec 3.0 is looking more promising. It pulls pretty strong in a FiveHundred with a auto, I can only imagine what it would be like with a 5 spd in a car that weighs 1200lbs less.
I've read that notching the rails may be necessary with the Zetec and this trans, but to my knowledge no one has tried to put a 3SGTE in a BG chassis before. It all depends on how long the 3S block is compared to the BP (which only needed some minor notching on the pass. side with the 'yota trans). I'm trying to source that info now.
And a LSD won't prevent the weak case on the G5M from flexing causing gears to blow with any type of hard racing plus good power. I want a trans that can take a 200-300whp all day long beating and not worry about it falling apart.
Id trust it at 300whp if it was fully rebuild. If you not racing it everyday it SHOULD be fine and like zx2fast has been posting for the past month or so a brace might cure the problem of the week case.. so all and all it really might be cheeper to stay with the G5M tranny OR like i said you should go AWD no ones finished it as far as we know of
