There are still a couple items I need before I swap the turbo stuff in. But I drove it around to check out new mfactory diff and plate modded trans, and the shifting was super stiff in the beginning, almost to the point where I was afraid of pulling the Mustang shift knob off. After going around the block and letting it sit for a little bit it felt much better, but still noticeably stiff, mostly trying to get in reverse. I have not punched it yet, but I did take it through all the gears up to 40mph, noticed some small random pulling on the wheel. So I was checking axle nuts, tie rods, ball joints, everything was tight and torqued. I raised the front end up and let it run in 1st gear, noticed there are flat spots on the 8 year old Kumho's also looking at the wheels they are the same age and there is corrosion on the dish. It is possible to round the tires out again by driving on them consistently and getting them hot, maybe apply a torch to them as they spin in the air on jacks, but I think it's time to upgrade to 17's and a taller tire anyway to fill in the wheel gap while also allowing the down-pipe to clear the oil pan and ground. If anyone is interested in my tire/wheel set I'll sell them for a screaming deal (take them at FocusFest or at my house), otherwise they go on my Escort sedan, lol. I don't know what will be finished first, my long awaited paint job, or the turbo kit. I got some vacations coming up and I need money for that, my savings are tied up in the stock market, and the auto industry is suffering quite a bit lately so my checks are not up to par. This may be the only update I have for a while, until FocusFest, if I even bring it this year. Probably won't get a trophy again if it looks the same as it did last year, people probably won't think it's cool anymore, gotta keep it fresh in order to win.

My set comes Tuesday, not sure when I will drive to work because of the pending storms approaching this week, more floods possibly. I'll keep you informed, you got first dibs.

Look up Goldmember MX3, 500hp, with less suspension work and trans work then what I'm doing. Plus I don't think he even had an LSD, it's not listed in his work. Ran 11.9 with 370whp (on hoosiers), I'm going for 500whp+ on E85 long term goal. MX3 and ZX2 weigh just about identical, very similar chassis EC vs BG. I'm betting if I had 370whp I would hit 11's without slicks because of LSD, custom frame-rail pre-loadable traction bars, stiff Ford Racing suspension, and my new Proxies. His 60ft is only 1.99 on slicks, which I came close to on Fuzion ZRi tires with 2.09 on a phantom grip lsd about 10 years ago with only 150hp. There is much more potential with my project because it is getting a lot of money and R&D put into it, only downfall is taking too long to get done. Still need to fix whatever is wrong with the trans I built, but will put the new Mfactory gearset in it when I redo it, Still need to finish downpipe to connect to the rest of the 3" trubendz exhaust, still need to put the modified fuel rails with the 600cc Nissan injectors in and re-tune, and probably some other small stuff. But I am close to getting at least a 300hp baseline, very close. If I didn't work and/or take care of two kids this would have been done years ago and all over the internet.

X2. Don't get discouraged. It will be well worth it. My turbo kit collected dust for only 2.5 years

During FocusFest where all of us, I mean myself, went to over the weekend, I watched a rear disc swap being performed and got me in the mood to replace the non-functioning e-brake in my ZX2. Never worked since I owned it. So knowing me, I go above and beyond when replacing a component. New rear powder-coated red calipers under a late 90's Miata, solid heat-treated and electro-coated rotors under late 90's Miata, para-aramid (kevlar) pads under late 90's Miata, new e-brake cables and front section cable. Had to drill out the factory screws on the rotor and used a regular bolt on the small threaded hole on the rotor to pop them off, not really a big deal. Now I am waiting for RockAuto to come through with my new goodies. The Miata upgrade is a slight one, 32mm bore instead of the Escorts 31mm bore. I don't think I need to go all out on big brake upgrades until I have a problem slowing down after 120+mph 1/4 mile runs. Too much debate on solid vs slotted vs drilled, I'm just sticking to solids all around and para-aramid brake pads, I think that would work out best. I'll post pics when I get everything in.

*Updated, don't go too early into the 90's on the Miata, apparently they have itty bitty rear brakes, smaller then the Escorts. I found out the hard way because I rushed into the order without doing the due diligence. Returning a bunch of stuff to RockAuto for store credit and will re-order the proper year Miata. The parking brake cables as well, can't do ZX2 with rear disc, must use 96 EGT or similar. The connection by the caliper is completely different and won't fit into the 'fork'.

Here are the pics, lets see if photobucket will let me post it. Everything ordered as a 2000 Miata, except for ebrake cables which are 96 Escort GT. You can see the rear pads have more meat then Escort pads. I had to shim the caliper bracket to spindle with a regular aluminum washer, otherwise the caliper bracket would rub the rotor, so keep that in mind if you do this upgrade.
