How much does your car weigh?

In full street trim, A/C, P/S, Full Trunk, 1/2 tank of gas, WW Kit, 16" wheels/tires my car comes in at 2550lbs. I have seemed to have picked up about 100lbs over a base model automatic that doesn't have A/C, 14" wheels, No options or Kit.

I'm thinking up creative ways to get my car back in the 2400lbs range. The group of guys I race with recommended gutting the trunk completely which I have done now. They also recommended removing front and rear crash bars that's next. My race wheel and tire combo is like 13lbs lighter per corner.

I won't gut the interior because this car needs to remain a street car for all intents and purposes. I also won't part with the A/C or P/S until I know this car will become a track only car.

I think your car is around 2300lbs correct?

rear crash bar is part of rear bumper. i dont think the front weighs much. the bumper would be kinda sloppy on the front then. maybe you can drill alot of holes in the front with the door knob hole maker drill.

Danm really the rear Crash bar can't be removed? I've had the front off numerous times but never the rear. Well that's a bust then for weight removal!

Rear disc brakes save a ton of weight...CF hood, CF trunk, racing seats...that's easily 100lbs right there.

I don't like CF, but that's a great idea if I can find a Fiberglass Hood.

my car sits at 2200 lbs as is, and the last chassis i had was 2150ish. lower weight doesn't really equate to gas mileage when you are only talking about a couple hundred pounds. a thousand or two, yes...but i got better mileage when the car was heavier than now, which seems weird.

Sorry this isn't about gas mileage. This is about going fast in a straight line and a couple hundred pounds in a sport compact is atleast a couple tenths if not more. Since he went 15.3 in the 1/4 in his automatic with less power then me I wanted to find out what his race weight was.

I'm all right, just distracted...I'll drop in from time to time, but I can't be on here 8 hr's a day like before ;-)
Never wieghed my car, but when I run I take out everything that isn't nessasary to pass tech. Wish they would let me use that lawn chair for a drivers seat!
I run without A/C and P/S everyday, it's only somewhat annoying. I just could'nt justify fixing these things on a car with 311,000 miles.
Go beat my time, then I will be motivated to come back and see if I can finally go into the 14's...

CF can be painted as well and it's lighter than fiberglass.

That depends on who makes it and how. The CF trunk I have appears to be Fiberglassed a few layers thick and then a layer or CF over top and black paint under to make it look like it's all CF. The hood seems to be done in a somewhat similar style.
    Nothing!
