    Default brakes

I seem to have done something wrong when following the how to do front pads and rotors guide. Now my brakes make horrible grinding noises and i have to press them to the floor to get them to stop. Any ideas?

sounds like something is hitting the rotors. the spring on the pads in wrong can do that.
also if you twisted the break hose when putting the caliper back on it can require excessive force to stop sometimes.

slide pins are brand new and slide very well. I think i put the pad with the spring clip thing on the wrong side, I am going to check now. Oh what is the proper way to break in new pads and rotors?

well i figured out my issue, one of the spring w clips popped out from one of the pads. That's the dragging noise i heard. It left some gouges in the back of the rotor Do you guys think it is okay to still use it? And now i am hearing this pinging sound whenever i hit bumps. Maybe it's because the brake hardware kit I had didn't include new shims?

You may have put one of the pads on wrong side out. I'm not saying I have done that or anything........

The scratches from the spring won't hurt anything.
Did you open any part of the fluid System. How old is your brake fluid ?
Break in for streeet pads is just normal driving. Don't overheat them or try panic stops for awhile.

I am hearing this noise in the rear, it sounds like severe grinding in the drums. Would the same troubleshooting still apply?

I had noise coming from my rear drums and it turned out to be this thin strip of metal that goes around the backing plate and it fits into a Grove in the drums. The strip of metal and the drums were rusty and rubbing so it tore the metal strip out and have had no problems.

Did the noise also happen while it was in motion and not just when braking?
