So I was driving home..

My EGT was packed to the roof with car parts because I needed to reassess the mountain of parts I had at my project car. I was on my way home, just putting, shifting at 2k like a good ol' grandma. A MK4 GTI turns onto the street I'm on, heading my direction. Red light. GTI two lanes to my right. Red civic sedan rolls up on the lane to my right. GTI and Civic guy talk. Light turns green. I put to the next red light, as do they. Midway to the next red light, I get blown past by an old Civic hatch and he swoops into my lane for the front spot at the light. There was no reason for him to do that other than to troll, as the lane to my left was open. I pull up behind him, waiting for the light to turn. Light goes green, and a huge puff of smoke billows from his can-o-bees exhaust. Must have had header too, because it was loud! Anyway, I take off kind of quick. I wasn't racing at this point, but this ricer floors his poor car and is just shooting smoke at my car. I floor it and stay within a fender to his bumper. I shift 1-2 @6k. Still holding to his bumper.. 75% throttle at this point because I feared eating the rear end of his car because he was so slow. I was laughing my balls off at this point. This was sad. Shift 2-3 @5k and let off.. by now I'm at the speed limit and know I've won. I didn't need to give a ricer flyby or pass him just to sear his wounds.. Civic continues like stink on shit with smoke blowing everywhere. GTI decides the Civic is easy meat, so he floors it and chases down the car. That was the last I saw of them.

Nice, reminds me of poor smoke billowing Civic sedan I beat in the old black car (chip, exhaust) whilst pulling a 4x6 foot trailer with a lawn mower, weedeater, and two gas cans on it. I also had a 200 pound passenger. I love torque in a four cylinder.

Those GTI's are extremely slow. I think you should recall what gen it is.

I don't understand... mainly because I've raced one in my NA silver ZX2 and put at least a car and a half on one from a dig.

i think there was 2 different power outputs among 4th gen gti's. The earlier ones had 150 and the later 180 hp iirc
