    Default Ideal Tweeter Placement?

I need some new speakers for the front and rear. My old setup sounded pretty good though it did not follow the "up front" philosophy or whatever it's called. I had a set of 6.5" coax in the front and 5.25" components in the rear deck with tweeters mounted in the corner, facing forward.

I'm thinking about getting components for the front this time but I'm not sure where I could put the tweeters. I've seen them mounted to the door handle piece, but I'm not so sure how good that would sound. Where's the best place to mount a set of tweeters for front component speakers?

For about three weeks now I've been listening to music through the passenger side front speaker as the rest of them have blown. At this point, I might just say screw it and get another set of coax's for the front and some components in the rear (same setup as before but with better quality speakers).

it seems that the best and most common place to mount them in our cars is in the mirror triangle piece.

Well I just went and sat in my car to have a look and since I have a pillar gauge pod, the mirror pod idea won't work. Though, since I don't have power locks or power windows, I do think the door handle spot could work if they were aimed slightly upward.

That's probably where I would have put mine if I didn't have power windows and locks since that's where the switches are.

I had a pillar gauge pod and the original sail panel tweeter pods. It fits fine.

To answer your question though, there is no "perfect" tweeter location. It is different for every car and every driver. There are suggested locations only. You have to try each location until you find what works best for you. If you purchase components, the idea is to keep the tweeter within 12" of the midbass driver. In the ZX2 I have found that the best sound can be achieved by bringing the tweeter up at least the drivers chest/shoulder level and have it aimed at the center dome light.

Driving a fast Honda is like coming out of the closet. Surprised at first but in the end you're still gay.
