So, i attempted a projector retro fit from a 93 lexus gs300, i have gotten the projectors in and installed but the lens just comes thru the old reflector. My question is, should they be half way into the assembly or it doesn't matter. The projector as it sits now, the light doesn't start to refract out until it gets out of the assembly so its not effecting light output.
Also how are the lights suppose to be aimed. i won't be using factory aiming screws. i got the passenger one perfect but for the driver side I'm not sure how its suppose to be aligned. right now the driver side doesn't shine so much light to the side of the car so its aimed more into the middle of the car. Just want to know if its suppose to be more to the drivers side and how much so that the light isn't shining straight into the oncoming drivers.
Post some pics..that will help. The way I aimed mine was on the floor in the garage. I made a little wood mount that sat on the floor and never moved. Then I put tape on the wall where the factory lights hit. Then after install, I put the lights back on the wood mount and aimed them to where the other lights hit.
As far as the mounting then further back...if you do that, make sure you have a way to cover the exposed part that's hanging out the back. You can use PVC pipe to do that.
Nothing!
do i have to cover the end wear the bulb goes into as well. like put a lid on the end of the pvc pipe?
PVC pipe isn't a bad idea. I don't have a dust cover on mine and stuff has gotten into it.
As for how far the projector is in or out of the reflector, it doesn't matter for the most part. As long as it's far enough in for the lens to fit on the headlight without the projector hitting it. But I don't know how yours looks like, so I can't say any more than that.
