    Default No more squishy cones!

So I just got back from a local autox club meeting and it seems that the dot has now deemed it that all the cones produced in the US have to be of a harder plastic like compound and not the squishy type plastic of years ago. The two local clubs here in CT are procuring about 600 old style cones they have found in a warehouse and they are splitting them between the 2 clubs but after those are done and gone it will be only expensive bumper smashing cones( i say expensive because the new cones the hard ones are twice as expensive as the squishy ones we bought last year) this is not good not good at all.

That's stupid why can't they have both? Both cones have their place depending on the situation even outside of autox.

I am sure some enterprising individual will market "motorsports cones" that need not be DOT compliant.

maybe this will force the competitors to be better drivers by providing less of an incentive to run over cones

That would be a great idea but I'm not sure if the market is big enough for the cones to be made at a cheap enough price.

My thoughts exactly. More debris on the freaking track for them to clean up.

I'm sure they would cost more, but I also think that regions would just budget appropriately...and fees would increase.
