    Default FSP guide

We can fill this with the knowledge that our members have of this class and how to make the ZX2 competitive. Here is a starting place if you are thinking of making the move to this class.

Okay. I have few thoughts that I am not sure on the answers.
    1. Can we use the sedan trans with the zetec in our cars?
    2. Can we use a manual steering rack and delete p/s?
    3. How much of a change in camber will RX7 ball joints get me?
    4. Would someone like to put up their plans for a front splitter?
    5. How much (if any) of the interior can be removed?
    6. Are lexan side windows legal?

Read the rulebook. There is an update/backdate rule for a lot of things, and how their rules are interpreted is if it does not explicitly say something can be done, then it cannot be done.
Found the limits of factory internals. Pictures here.

2000 ZX2 - Built engine (Eagle Rods, JE Pistons, block bored to 85.5mm, 2mm oversize valves, Forged oil pump gears), Garrett GTX2863R turbo, 80 lb/hr injectors, flex fuel, Megasquirt 3 EMS, Celica ST185 radiator, 3" exhaust. Other mods too, check out my build thread for a full listing.

2000 S/R FSP build: APC shift knob, LED tails, zx2 sticker on the rear bumper, Silverstar headlights, blue spark plug wires, optima red top battery, Magnaflow muffler, and some lowering springs.

Okay. I have few thoughts that I am not sure on the answers.
    1. Can we use the sedan trans with the zetec in our cars?

NO. You can only up/backdate to cars that are on the same line in the rulebook.

    2. Can we use a manual steering rack and delete p/s?

NO. It was never offered in the ZX2--only the Escort Pony

    3. How much of a change in camber will RX7 ball joints get me?

    I THINK ABOUT 1*

    4. Would someone like to put up their plans for a front splitter?

SEE BELOW & IN MY OTHER POSTS FOR PHOTOS. It's made out of aluminum. The rule says that it cannot be visible when viewed from above--the nose of the ZX2 allows for a very large amount of deck area...way more than any other FSP car that I can think of.

    5. How much (if any) of the interior can be removed?

NONE, PER SE--BUT YOU CAN USE RACING SEATS. A/C and airbag steering wheel can be removed.

    6. Are lexan side windows legal?

    NO.

We use a Kirkey "Pro Drag" race seat mounted to OE sliders. Have a cheap eBay "rally" style wheel on a Momo adapter. The harnesses are attached to a custom fabbed harness bar.

Erik, I was looking over your build and think it is fantastic. Is there any way we can get more of that info, I.e. the pistons you used, rods, bearings, etc with possible part numbers? My engine is getting tired and I am thinking about building one and need some help with the direction. Looking for it to be FSP legal just as you are.

Edit: So we can't swap steering racks. But can we depower the stock one?

You don't want to do that. Power assist is amazing to have in the corners.

    Thank you.

The motor is .030 over--we used Sealed Power hypereutectic OE replacement pistons from Summit. The rest is just regular OE replacement stuff...can't do much fancy stuff per the rules. It has a aluminum flywheel and a stage 2 clutch, both "F1" e-Bay items. Diff is MFactory. Header is FSVT, intake is stock S/R with the Kalmen mod for the filter housing. The TB is bored out to 55mm (www.maxbore.com), and JohnB did the work on porting the manifold. Has a Superchip "flip chip". The injectors are stock--but an upgrade and a retune is a likely future mod.

Shoot for a spring ratio in the 1.2:1 (F:R) range. We use 12/10kg (672/560) on our car, and we're considering going up to 750/625. We run on Ceika custom double-adjustable coilovers. The FSB is a slightly smaller than stock 15/16" item (custom made), and the rear is also a 15/16"...but is 3-way adjustable (custom).

We run the camber plates as caster plates, and the holes on the strut mounts are slotted for camber.

We run tie-bars on both ends too.

I have some FR coilovers I am going to give a try this year. I realize they are completely opposite of your recommended rates but I already own them. Also have a 21mm RSB I am going to give a shot. Currently running a 19mm RSB. Have a Front lower tie bar. Hawk HPS front pads. Also running a Hotshot intake. Also have a pacesetter header to put on.

Are you running sans cat or a high flow? Any recommendations on exhaust setup?

No cat in FSP; when the car was in ST, we ran a universal Magnaflow cat on a Pacesetter header (it sounded awesome! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GfvAbQFzKw and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQxgJvSRH3k) . Our exhaust is a side-exit. The back half is aluminum (custom), the front half is stainless and has a resonator.

As for the steering, you cannot just "depower" the stock rack. Not legal. With 275's or even 245's...I'm not sure that you'd really want to. Basically when it comes to the SOLO2 rues, if the books says you can...then you can (do it). If the book does NOT say you can...then you can't (do it).

Did we get a final ruling on the head shaving limit? I saw you and Tim discussing it but I don't think I ever saw the resolution to that question.
