Default does the cruise control have any light to indicate it's on?

I was helping someone replace the cruise control on-off switch on a 2002 Explorer and noticed there was a green light on it. My ZX2's cruise control has nothing to indicate anything like if the switch is turned on or the system i actually engaged. It seems like every car I have seen has some way to indicate the status of the cruise control. Mine just has black switches and no lights on the dash.

If the cruise control is on, your car will maintain it's current speed.

I never needed a light. When I drove my mom's Explorer Sport Trac awhile back and saw the green light on I had to look it up in the owner's manual to see what was going on because I had never seen it before. My Fiesta has a light and I'm sure all current model year Fords do now but I really don't feel I need it. I haven't figured out for sure, but I think my Fiesta even has a light that says the headlights are on (it's different from the fog light one that is also on there)... I'm just glad I don't have all those goofy nannies like lane assist, self park, or backup sensors.

OK thanks. I thought indicators for cruise controls had been around for several decades. At least I have a light in the trunk.
