Thanks. Even if were to pull it it would still be bad?

If it can be 4 wheel alligned, then replace the parts, and drive it like you stole it. If they can not allign it, then it's probably not worth fixing.

I highly doubt that buckling is from backing into something, that's from side impact.. The car absorbed the impact through the door and deformed everything else. The car has got to go, its super weak now.

    Example
you set a empty pop can on the floor standing up, place your foot and apply pressure to squish it, which isn't very easy. Now take your foot off and squeeze a small dent into the side and step on it again, now it crushes with little effort.

The buckling in the body is similar to the dent in the can.

Drive the car like you stole it if you want, but realistically it needs to be scrapped.

Any way to have the responsible party pay for your damages?

I felt like a waste when I thought it only needed a door. I thought to take some of the money and keep salvage title. I just put a new a/c, new 80000 mile tires on it, new brakes, new hoses, pullies, motorcraft tensioner, and other things. About 2500, maybe more of work in the past year and a half. Paint was all I had left. Now they only want to give me 2000. I want to keep it but it is a lot to consider. Maybe I can sell the parts and feel better that they might get more use than they did on mine. Bummed but isn't that how life just is.

$2000 can buy a nice zx2 with nice paint.

if you buy another one before the insurance takes the crashed one then you can switch over good parts onto the new one

It's a good idea but I don't know how much time I have. And I don't know how to install most of what I have had done, mainly the a/c and pullies, and hoses. I was learning how to fix things particular to my car but still have a lot to learn. I spent a lot of time researching how to fix what I needed to do and did a lot myself. If they let me keep it and don't take too much off the settlement, I have considered getting another one and I would have mine still for parts. That was my plan at first but lots of people said it looked like just the door needed replacing. I hoped they were right.

Your buy back is likely less than $400. My buyback on my Lexus was $250

I somehow missed all the pics of the rear crinkle, you would probably never get your door to seal properly again. It looks like it's also pushed out at rear wheel well. I am old school, if i didnt have the money to fix something, i would still drive it no matter how unsafe it was. Ofcourse at the time i had no kids and didnt care about my safety to much. 2,000 would get you a pretty nice zx2.

If it was my car, I would find a door that is the same color. It may not line up so great. Big deal. For $100 I would at least try it out. Your Z did a hell of a job protecting you in that crash. You were hit in a very vulnerable spot-the weakest area for a two door design. Not surprised that the interior was breached considering the door took all of the impact. You didn't mention any injuries. I'm glad your chicken head didn't get hurt.

Well it's done. I settled with them and keeping my car. I got them to give me a bit more. The buy back was 136.00 and I am still getting about 2000. Gonna drive her and try to put a door on on in the mean time. Well see where things go from here.
