    Default 1000whp EVO 9 MR

Thought i'd share this with you guys. We went up to Fairfax, VA and got the chance to check out Moore Automotive's sweet shop, where we drove a 1000HP Evo that they tuned. It was ridiculous, traction was lost, E85 was consumed.

JE Pistons, Eagle Rods, heat treated crank, john p ported head, on my fifth transmission (MFactory LSD), 12.5" Wilwood Brakes, Roush/Turbonetics turbo, 17x7.5 Volk TE-37's, 60lb seimens injectors, deatschwerks 300m fuel pump, 38mm Tial Wastegate, 6 puck clutch, megasquirt 3, Ground Control coilovers, wings west lip kit, and not enough time to work on it.

I've always wondered what a misfire feels like at 250hp per cylinder....

One day I will experience a 1000hp monster

I'm surprised that turbo allows 1000hp. What is the spec on that turbo? And just curious to know what the 1/4 mile time is on that thing, and top speed? I remember racing wrx's back in the day, they were gutless on the highway (in stock form at least) most likely due to weight and drivetrain power loss.

While the car is cool and all.....

I never understood builds that are daily driven with over 500whp. You just can't realistically use it on the road, you guys seem to agree in the video.

    After 100mph it's realistically useful.

it's technically a t3 turbo but it's custom fitted so it's like a 99 trim or something stupid like that. He doesn't have any official quarter mile times as he really just uses the car as a weapon. and that's the best way to describe it. street racing.

As for driving it around town it really wasn't gutless. felt just like a stock evo until about 5k rpm when the turbo and cams rip you a new one. there's no inbetween. and it revs to 9k.

Yeah, it wasn't a daily.. i wouldn't say the cutoff point is 500whp, it depends on the car. but this one "could be dailied" but i wouldn't reccomend it as it's so stressful and loud. oh my loud.

I watched the video last night, badass!!! It's gotta be boarderline street-able though I would imagine. My co-worker has a 550hp on 93 evo 9 and he complains about how difficult the clutch is all the time. Also says you can modify the clutch to be more forgiving, so I'm not sure.

yeah, saw your comment. the triple disk clutch wasn't BAD. you just gotta keep the rpms up to about 3 or 4k when you're releasing the clutch SLOWLY. but yeah, you could daily drive it. It's definately streetable. full interior and everything. the cams made it a bit hard to start and the we also didn't mention the car has no power steering.. he took the power steering out becaue he couldn't hit the 4" downpipe. so he removed it.. so yeah, if you have the endurance.. you could put up with it but it wouldn't be fun. the only time when it's fun is if you're on the highway and someone comes up trying to race you.

I don't know if this is the case, but the AEM ecu is known on S2000's to cause cranking/starting issues.....will not start right away, have to crank multiple times, etc. etc.

interesting.. i mean, most heavily cammed vehicles have a hard time starting anyway. just had to sit there and crank for about 5-7 seconds and then it finally putters and turns over. Here you can here it in the teaser vid:
