    Default 98 Premium sound removal

Decided to put a stereo in the Red 98. It has premium sound, so I got a harness from dareall to bypass the amp. When I removed the stock radio, I found a factory jumper on the black plug. I removed it and plugged in the new stereo and it works fine. Was this a conversion to Premium sound?

Found out that jumper is for the front speakers.... Had to put in dareall's harness so I could have rear speakers.

this is a factory connector and has to be left in place

My adapters convert the premium sound to regular sound, so you use the mate to that plug pictured - just like if it was a non-premium sound

Found out last night that the JY Metra faceplate I got has no illumination for the HVAC. Time to find another.... Does sound better with a new stereo and rear speakers. I hope to change the fronts when I convert to power mirrors.

Is there any way to keep the amp working with an aftermarket stereo? If not does dareall still make the bypass adapter

dareall has 2 of his adapters on hand right now. You can send dareall PM and can take care of details this way

the thing about the premium sound amp is that the system was rated at 80 watts. this was compared to the 24 watts of the non-premium sound. The 80 watts is not much when compared to the offerings of aftermarket head units. Because of this is really makes the amp only good to use with the factory setup not with anything aftermarket

Pardon for replying to an old thread. I've been trying to figure out why my front speakers sound under powered but my rears sound perfect.
I've got a pair of Polk Audio DB651s in the front and a pair of JBL GT7-86 in the rear. I had bought your bypass harness since my ZX2 is equipped with premium sound but I'm confused as to why they sound different comparatively.

good news is that the rear sound perfect with the install of the bypass i have provided

for the fronts, what kind of connectors are you using for the speakers? are they the ones which came with the speakers? if so, those should be a gauge of wire made to work with that speaker.

now on to how did you connect the wires you got with your speakers? did you use crimp connectors? if so, check those to make sure that they are connected evenly. If they are loose then i would suggest just soldering those wires to the wiring ends which were provided with the speakers
