    Default 59mm Throttle Body

    So, I finally got the fixture made the other day so I could bore a throttle body out. Decided on a 59mm bore and has a 66mm entry and a 60mm exit where it meets the manifold. That leaves a healthy 1mm (+ or -) wall thickness where the throttle plate sits. It broke out into the screw goke for the throttle cable bracket, but no big deal since once the screw goes in, it will be sealed off from outside/unmetered air. Might put a dab of epoxy in there to smooth it off later.

    I still need to cut the throttle shaft slot wider and make the throttle plate. If it all goes well, may see how many people would be interested in having this done. I know the last time this was offered a few people got screwed out of parts and $$.

    Interested in seeing the performance gains. Is this being put on an N/A or FI motor?

    My buddy bought a dyno a few weeks ago, but needs to find a bigger shop to accomodate it. I've already told him I'll help him break it in with the massive HP of the Mighty ZX2. LOL!

    But seriously, I'd love to do a pure bolt comparison with my car on his dyno. Put the stock intake parts and ECU back in and go from there.

    1) Keeman mod
    2) K&N
    3) NGPO ECU
    3) Throttle body
    4) SVT header

    As far as I understand it, unless you're going FI the TB diameter is more than enough in regards to air input into the motor so I'm not sure how a bigger throttle body for an N/A motor is going to do much.

    Agreed. I doubt there will be any noticeable improvement with an N/A engine. Some people claim better throttle response and felt better on the ol' butt dyno, but I haven't seen any numbers to back that up. Since there seems to be people looking for 60mm TB's every few months, this is more of an exercise to see how much work is involved and wether or not this would be a group buy sorta thing if people are interested. I did this one at 59mm, but 60mm is doable, too.

    I guess you could call it a supporting mod that works in concert with some of the other mods that you do on the car.

    1Whp... and horrible drive ability....

    Most people end up taking off their ported throttle bodies because of drive ability problems. I used to rock a Focus Central 65mm TB with a JohnP Port Match IM... Horrible dealing with all the issues, I ended up taking it all off and going back to a stock TB.

    I bored mine at work on the CNC lathe and then made the plate out of stainless on the CNC mill and its all assembled awaiting the S/R clutch install to test it out.
    This is the only view you should see when on the road with my S/R!
