Default No Start/ Blowing 10A Fuel Inj Fuse

Hey guys and girls, I just finished swapping a healthy zetec into my 99 wagon. I used the SPI 5spd trans with the zetec starter( no issues there), and wiring is from a 99 ZX2 also ( 6 wire maf etc. etc.), there were absolutely ZERO corners cut on this swap.

So the problem I'm having is when you turn the key on to start it I can't hear the fuel pump prime and the car just cranks but won't start (obviously), But I noticed that it blew the 10 amp Fuel Inj fuse in the small panel next to the central junction box at the kick panel. I swapped in a new fuse and it blew as soon as I turned the key to start it.
Looked up the wiring diagrams (in the Ford EVTM) and that fuse ties into both 02 sensors as well as the evap canister vent solenoid, the evap canister purge valve, and the MAF and appears to be fed from the PCM power relay located in the CCRM.

I have already swapped the pcm and the CCRM and no changes.

I was thinking it's either a wiring issue or it's possibly the 02's (which would be odd as they are both brand new Bosch units from our friends at Rockauto.com)

Has anyone had any experience with this issue before?

Thanks in advance for the help or guidance.

Has the car successfully started after the swap? If so how many times have you started it since the swap and how long as it ran for ish each time.

No, it hasn't. At first I had a engine/trans spacer issues as the starter wasn't completely touching the flywheel. I fixed that yesterday and put the starter back in this morning, so now it cranks but won't start. When I first swapped the pcm I did hear the pump prime the first time I turned the key, but nothing after that first time.

I just unplugged the front 02 sensor and checked the fuse to see if it was blown again, and it wasn't so I plugged it back in thinking that the heater circuit was drawing to much amperage, but apparently that wasn't it. Now it appears that it's not blowing that fuse anymore and it just won't prime/ turn the fuel pump on and still won't start. Any ideas guys and girls?

Also another thing to add is that I have no communication with the pcm, I've tried 3 different scanners and nothing. Didn't matter which pcm was plugged in

    Just another thought.

Are the rap modules electronically "tied" to the pcm?

I don't believe they are but could be wrong.

you can unplug the rap module and the car will still start.

    Thank you pextor.

So I have nailed most of the problem down to one single connector. It's the C223 black connector to the left of the fuse box at the kick panel.

When I disconnected that plug, it won't blow the 10amp fuel injection fuse and I also now have communication with the scanner and can also hear the fuel pump prime.

Has anyone run into this issue before? I have already de pinned part of the zx2 connector to line up with the appropriate pins on the wagon connector.I now know there is a difference in the pins from the zx2 to the sedan/wagon on those connectors.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated, as it still won't start.

My wagon is a zetec swap. I'm not sure if any of the wiring on that connector was changed at all or not. I know I can hook up my code reader and read codes, because I have an occasional code that I'm dealing with right now.

Ah okay. My wagon must be special or something then...lol.

What year is your wagon and what year of Zx2 was the wiring from? Any chance you could take a picture of the wiring coming out of that connector and post it please and thank you?

I sent you a PM but I also didn't change any of that wiring. I think you may have a short. My swap was a 2000 zx2 into a '98 wagon.

    Thanks guys.

Nova, all the grounds are great. I'm running multiple 1/0 gauge grounds ( all sky high car audio wiring), plus all grounds under the hood that are known to be problematic have been changed and taken care of.
As for the short you are correct, there is a white/ blue wire that goes to the evap on the zx2 but on my wagon harness it lined up with the luggage compartment light. I pulled that wire out of the connector for the wagon and no more blown fuses.

    But she still won't start.

Are you guys using the zx2 harness for the back of the dash or the sedan harness?
