    Default Lower Window Trim Mouldings

Starting this thread to post all the information I am gathering pertaining to this aspect of ZX2 preservation.

The mission of this thread is to provide techniques for converting Ford Probe lower window mouldings on to the ZX2.

Small modifications are required and many pictures will be coming.

The lower window mouldings and their clips on Ford Probes do vary from the two generations. I believe both versions will work on the ZX2 with modifications. The clips from 1st gen Probes do not appear to be compatible with the ZX2.

Both Probe versions are slighty longer and only the latter version shares the same clips with the ZX2. My apologies for claiming the clips were all the same.

In the picture the ZX2 LWTM is on top. Ford Probe 2nd gen in middle. 1st gen on bottom.

I transferred a Ford Probe 2nd gen passenger side LWTM onto 98 denim blue Z. I should have adjusted it a few millimeters back. Luckily there is plenty of play where the clips slot into the door shell. I wound up trimming 2 inches and 1/16 off the Probe version to match the length of the ZX2 part. ATTENTION: I am still in fact finding phase of research.

How to remove a broken clip without damaging the LWTM.

From the backside insert two flat head screwdrivers.

Grasping the LWTM firmly press down on the top backside of clip.

Now the clip is half way out.

Insert one flat head screwdiver underneath the small tooth on front side of clip.

Now insert your other flat head screwdriver and pry out.

There are many different ways of doing this wrong and screwing up your LWTMs. The devil is in the details.
