year question

so i know this is a stupid question and i have a good idea what will and what wont but i want to make shure i have it all cleared up for parts and years

engine wise what years can be used for parts and from what other motors and vehicals

trannys what trannys are useable and from what years to what parts and manual or auto

body what years to from what vehicals


i know this is kinda stupid to ask but it would help alot

I am kinda new with the zx2 also, but from what I have read the 98-02 body is almost the same, the 03 has different front end, but read the front bumper will bolt on to older models.
On the engine, not sure but there is a difference between pre 99.5 MAF sensors, older has
3 wires, newer with 4. Read through the newbe section stickies, very informative and will
let you know what's what on fluids, parts and useless ebay add ons.

In relation to the maf.
98-99.5 = 4 wire MAF + separate IAT
99.5-03 = 6 wire MAF w/ integrated IAT
Based on the same years there is also differences with the CCRM and the high pressure A/C switch.
Most engine parts will interchange 98-03.
Transmissions = 98-03 are the same model (98-99.5 have been thought to have some gearing differences though). I believe this exact model of the G5M was only used in the escort zx2.

Some of the contours - 97-99 used a similar engine to ours and many of the parts will work also. Transmission is different though, contour uses an MTX-75 I believe.

Pretty much everything is interchangeable. Some parts from the 97-02 Escort Sedan can also be used, though some bolt holes line up and some don't.

Most everything will swap over form 91-02 sedan except motor parts.
