Just changed rev limit to 8k..Powerband has been isolated!

I really need a tune, it becomes obvious at the top of 3rd gear!

    2) Our power drops because a: the stock intake manifold becomes a restriction at ~6,500 rpm, overcome that and it will go higher, b: get more aggressive cams. Everybody says "oh hondas can rev high because they have v-tec". Thats fucking stupid and complete bulshit. They can rev high because they have a slightly better oiling system and their ported heads outflow zetec ported heads every day of the week. Esslinger had to hog out their head and fill the coolant passages to get ~300 cfm of flow. There are stock honda heads that flow near that. The only thing "vtec" does is allow a higher/aggressive cam profile to be used while also having an "economy/daily" cam profile. That's all v-tec is.

    3) as you and others have said, the 2.0 is already "stroked" out. If you stroke it out farther you also create more stress in the rods from having a larger angle change from the larger offset on the crank.

Anybody can overcome the waterpump issues by just running an electric one or a larger pulley to change its ratio. Larger pulley is the cheaper alternative but with ~$400+ for a full electric setup that is doable.

You are going to want light internals.

The gears will incur higher wear at that rpm. This is also a brand new oil pump. I'm not hanging at 8k often by any means. I'm not exactly a rogue teenager anymore.. I appreciate your concern, but I expect to go to something better within the next year or so..the oil pump will not fail in that time, not with the rarity that I carry it into 8k, where it is capable of handling.

The oil pump gears will fail at 7500 rpm...so I wouldn't exactly say they are capable of handling 8000.

I understand you feel strongly about this, but show me the proof if you want to continue debating this because apparently my research differs from yours.

They make billet gears for a reason. If you think you can get away with it go ahead. I'm not going to search the internet for hours, but http://forums.focaljet.com/svt-headq...-oil-pump.html I've seen plenty of oil pump failure thread on focal jet over the years.
