Big fan of the Glock 23. Got 3. 1 fairly stock for edc and 2 with various mods for performance. did just pick up a 9mm keltec though. very snappy but tolerable. gonna replace my bodyguard 380 as a backup.

When I was about 5, my dad bought me my first gun. A Smith and Wesson 357. I have loved that gun since the day I got it. I will have it until the day I die and will pass it along to my children

Does anyone have any advice for a first handgun? I'm really interested in starting to shoot more. I have rifles and shotguns just not any handguns. I have only really shot handguns once or twice, a beratta 9mm and 44 mag. I was thinking about just getting a cheaper .22 revlver just to get into shooting hundguns more? Just an idea though i would really like to hear some advice from the gun lovers in this thread.

I love my Glock and it was my Second Handgun. You interested in a semiautomatic or a revolver?

Also, what do you plan on using it for? Are you just going to go plinking or would you be getting your CCW and carry it for defense?

Listen to suggestions, but take them only as suggestions. The very first thing you should do when deciding what handgun to purchase is to shoot them. Shoot your friends' guns. Go to the local indoor range and try out the different suggestions given to you. I didn't try out guns first and it cost me a lot more to find the piece I wanted. Trying out guns and finding what fits your hand best before you buy is the cheapest way to go about it.

I'm more interested in a revolver, I want to start simple and work my way up. I was thinking about maybe getting a .22 revolver and just using it for plinking then eventually getting simething bigger for home defense and maybe eventually getting my ccw

Start with a .38 revolver. Not a lot of recoil, and can serve dual roles. Ammo is cheap too.

I like this one because it can shoot .38 and .357 Magnum rounds, and the muzzle isn't so short that it becomes inaccurate, and not so long that it becomes difficult to handle.

This is what I currently shoot.
