    Default clamshell clamps

Well I'm considering going to clamshell clams for part of my IC piping. Please tell me what you all think. I would want to do:

tb (either vband or clamshell) and both sides of the IC in/out , and possibly the exit of the turbo. I would use a 4 ply rubber/silicone couplings on each side of the IC right around the radiator support for engine movement. I'd also use 4 ply rubber/silicone coupings for the cold/filter side of the turbo to the air filter box.

I can weld aluminum myself, I've picked up a tig welder a few weeks ago. I'll be creating my own IC piping.

    What I see:

    Benefits:
    boost sooner
    easier to disassember
less boost leaks (pending my welds are all good)

    Downer:
cost more, couplings aren't cheap from what I can find.

For those that dont know what these are:

also this company exalt customs is advertising a new kind of clamp. It screws on to the other side creating a clamping pressure.

Really? You wont see it much on street cars or low end budget builds because they are so expensive and then on top of that you gotta get them welded on, not everyone has access to a welder (or atleast a aluminum welder) . Do you want to see pictures on some cars?

I think I might do it, I have plenty of time to do this project...and it will make boost leaks and the pipes just that much more (as apposed to having soft pipes because of the silicone couplings)

I'm going to price it up tomorrow, I think I'll be looking at around 300 to get 4 of them, unless I can find them cheaper then the 75.00 each (for 2.5")

Man thats expensive. Well, you are going all out on the build, Ive read through it many times. I guess this is just another part thats helping keep everything together and kicking ass.
